Mission: Episode 1: A New Frontier
Location: USS Vanguard
Timeline: 2424.6.19 1300 Hours

Yoralig walked out of his ready room and stepped onto the bridge, the familiar hum of the ship greeting him like a heartbeat. The doors hissed shut behind him as he made his way toward the center, boots echoing softly against the deck plating.

He paused for a moment, taking it all in. The bridge was alive with motion — officers in red, blue, and gold uniforms moving with purpose as they settled into their stations. The low murmur of voices mixed with the gentle chirp of consoles and the faint rumble of the engines beneath their feet. It was ordered chaos, the kind that told him the crew was sharp, alert, and ready.

His gaze swept across the room — the helm crew running final diagnostics, tactical reviewing status reports, science officers fine-tuning sensor calibrations. Everything was in motion, synchronized, efficient. It brought a small flicker of pride to his chest.

As he approached the command chair, he straightened slightly, the weight of command settling into place like a well-worn uniform. He turned to his executive officer, his tone calm but firm.

"Commander," he said, meeting the other’s eyes, "have the stations report."

Halli stood at attention when the Captain appeared. "Captain on Deck," she called out. It was...weird saying that instead of HEARING it as "just" the CSO. She nodded once.

"Yes, sir," she said. "Welcome to your first day. After you," she said, stepping aside so he take his seat. She remained standing.

"Crew, reports, please," she said aloud. She waited for his signal to sit herself. The first bit of time was always more formal and this was her first time as executive officer and she needed this to go well.

Mak sat in his CONN station updating his console. New information on starcharts and new routes poured in as he studied them. Thinking back on the briefing he got out, he slipped out quietly first. He didn't do well on introducing himself. Wincing slightly, he thought back on what he said and how little he added. Just a small intro and mostly listening to what the bosses say, Behind him, the XO requested a report. He spoke up, "Conn stands ready, Ma'am. Just inputting the last of the star charts into navigation."

Halli nodded to all of the officers in turn. Excellent. Self-starters; she loved that.

"Security is ready," Drayton reported from the tactical station.

Not taking his eyes off of his workstation, Commander Drurio answered the call, "Scientific systems are ready. Sensors are primed."

T'Prin's voice sounded over the comm system. "Sickbay here. All medical teams report ready. Environmental controls are all in the green. We're ready."

Michael looked up from the Master Situations Monitor in Engineering. "Engines all in the green, power systems stable, all systems online. We're ready to go, Sir."

Telyra chimed in next from where she had been leaning and hiding away so she could see the ship leave the dock, "Counselling is all ready, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. Hope you don't mind me being here watching."

"Sir, all stations ready. On your command, we launch," Halli said. She let out a breath softly. They made it.

Looking around the bridge, the Coridianite looked forward, "Starbase control. Vangaurd is ready to depart."

"Acknowledged Vanguard. Procede at one-quarter impulse out of drydock." A male voice said over the comms.

"Acknowledged control. Vanguard out." Yoralig said turning to the helm officer. "Lieutenant Aerie. Ahead one-quarter impulse."

Mak waited for the order. He prepared for this moment like all moments before, but it was his first. Tapping on the navi con, he faced forward and coordinated their route from dry dock at one-quarter impulse. Not exactly a big moment, but sort of a silent moment for him. Moving the Vanguard forward, he replied, "Yes, sir."

Keeping himself calm, Mak felt eager and ready for his next venture into some distant unknown with some new friends and allies.

As the Vanguard began its departure, Monoc Drurio kept a close eye on the sensor reports that were coming through over his screens. Typing on his workstation's keyboard, he transferred the details to the Helm so that Lieutenant Aerie had a clear view of the space before them.

Halli watched as the ship made its soft "clink" noise as they left the station, and headed into space. The stars in front of them seemingly paused for a moment before they began to streak past. They were on their way.

"As you were, everyone," Halli said, and then turned to her own console, waiting for the Captain to sit so she could, too. "Course ahead looks clear so far," she noted.

Yoralig took his seat and looked forward. "Lietuenant Aeire. Prepare for warp speed."

At the Captain's gesture, Halli took a seat in the second chair. She turned on her Console, and made some notes.

"Engineering, are we cleared for warp speed?" Yoralig asked the through the comms down to Engineering.

Michael checked his readings one final time. "Aye, Sir. Warp speed at your command," he said, some excitement creeping into his voice as he activated the MSM's viewscreen so they could keep an eye on the launch while they watched the engines.

"Helm. Set course, 247 mark 92. Warp 7." The Coridanite said in his commanding voice. Proceed," He ordered.

Excited for what was to come, the Mizarian Science Officer turned his chair toward the viewscreen so that he could enjoy the warp jump.

Mak was ready. With both hands on the Navi conn, he pressed the button on his command. They said you wouldn’t feel anything when you go to warp. They lied. Mak felt something right then. As the ship moved forward a few inches from impulse.

The captain watched the ship jump to warp from the viewscreen. It was an awesome spectical, and it was one thing that never got old. This was it. This was the start of this part of his life. What adventures would await this crew. Only time will tell. This was it.
